He holds a PhD and an MSc in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin where he dedicated his research to statistical applications for the characterization of natural geological objects. His contributions to natural fracture systems are acknowledged by industry and academia (+600 citations in Google Scholar and ResearchGate). He worked for Shell for over 23 years as Exploration and Structural Geologist Specialist, providing specialized support for Onshore and Offshore plays and prospects. He has worked in a variety of geological settings in many countries, both onshore and offshore, in conventionals and unconventionals, at regional and local scales. He has experience in Shale Oil and Shale Gas, Tight Gas Sandstones, Sub-basalt Exploration and Subsalt Exploration in Brazil and Mexico. He has worked on the characterization of Fractured and Karst Reservoirs, Fault Compartmentalization and Sealing, Regional Pore Pressure Prediction and Environmental issues for Oil Sands Operations. He also teaches graduate courses at Universidad Central de Venezuela and has great interest in the application of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence to geoscientific problems.
